Final Reflection

This is my final reflection of what I have learned this semester from working online with Office Management:

  • Technology -There's always something new and excited being released is what I described as a definition for the word technology. Technology control this environment. It refers to tools and machines that may be used to solve real world problems and replacing human being. Technology is the arts for the benefits of life as it is known. We have to be able to keep up with technology for the future, because it can change the way we live. Technology changes in computing, web communication, energy, materials and business. If you want to compete in today's business world, then it' important to keep up with technology in order to get the most out of it. Like this new conflicker worm that I just learned about that affected the website, started April 1st; now it got to be a new technology perform or invented to find a way to control that conflicker. There is only one answer on how to keep up to date with technology and it is to study and do your research. I have now learn to keep up with technology; I like to challenge new things because I like to know what I am working with.
  • Blog is a technology that some people did not know about or how to use it, like me for instance, but I did my research. There are many different types of blogs, differing not only in the type of content, but also in the way that content is delivered or written. There are personal blogs, corporate blog, and question blog; you can link a blog by media type, by device or by genre. Blog never came across my mind until I register for this class and we had to create a blog account and at that point that is when I start doing my research on the different types of blog. This course goes under the personal type of blogs because even through some of our blogs is posted they may never be read by anyone else but the person that wrote the blog. I never wonder how a person post a blog until I had to posted a blog about "electronic mail" on netiquette as an assignment and that when I really had hand on experience to see how blog actual work. Well, will I ever blog again since now I know how to do one? Of course, who know I may get a job and my company will require me to do a corporate blog. I will feel comfortable by doing one without been stress and confuse. I am glad I took this class and was introduce to blog.
  • When I think about leadership, I think about a hero who has extra-ordinary qualities and a grand vision for their followers. I recently did research on the direct type of leadership and I was in the participative category of leadership style. This requires leaders with new attitudes and skills. The task of organizing our society and improving the quality of life for all depends on leadership and goverance. I understand that leadership can be a two-way street, which will likely be different. It can be bad or negative-due to the multiple loyalties of citizenship/followership. This age of rapid changes of new technologies, such leaders will have enormous power, influence and authority.

Holmes' Blog-"Shawshank Redemption"

This is one of my favor movies, I can watch this movie over and over again. Some of the clip is amazing and I have trouble holding back the tears when watching them. I wish such a great movie like this one had won many oscars; it is the best movie I've ever watched beside "Color Purple". Morgan Freeman one of the co-star in this movie has a voice that always hypnotize me; it has a peaceful tone. He is an amazing actor.
The movie begins with the trial of a young banker, Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins) to be convicted for the murder of his wife and her lover. After a quick conviction, Andy finds himself serving a life sentence at Shawshank Prison, with no hope of parole. In 1947, Andy Defresne was sentenced two life sentences for the double murders. At that point he was sent to the harsh life at the Shawshank Prison. This movie makes you wonder is prison life for inmates is this bitter as this movie shows -when they are dogged by threats and harassment and instances of rape by a group of homosexuals who call themselves "Sister". Andy tried hard to adapt to the prison life so he kept too himself sometimes. After a month later, he becomes acquainted with Ellis Redding (Morgan Freeman) also known as "Red" and his friends. The first two years were the worst years in prison for Andy, but prison life changed for Andy in 1949 when one day he was chosen to work as a worker doing outdoor work detials.
Before prison life Andy former life was a banker and his knowledge of accounting and income taxes earn his time to work in the prison library with prisoner Brooks Hatlen (James Whitmore) by the order of Warden Norton (Bob Gunton). The years of 1966, Andy escape the prison life by cutting his way through a side of a wall with a rock hammer that was giving to him as a gift from his friend "Red". Andy spent years chipping away at the wall of the cell with his rock hammer and used the posters of Rachel Welch on his wall to cover it. The following morning, he is missing from his cell and an investigation is launched. It becomes clear that Adny Dufresne escaped from prison and he was never found. The next year of 1967, "Red" is finally released on paraole after serving 40 years at Shawshank.
As you get into this movie you will see that it is somewhat like prisoner that serve so long and don't kow nothing else but the prison life is afraid of the outside world. For instances, when prisoner Brooks Hatlen received parole after serving in prison for so long for an unmentioned crime that he finds himself attached to the Shawshank and the daily life he has lead. He fear the outside world that he committed suicide by hanging himself and when "Red" made parole he also lived in fear and worried that he would end up doing the same thing the Brooks did once he is on the outside. When Red is finally released from prison, he follows the instructions given to him by Andy to find a further note hidden beneath a tree, which eventually leads him to meet Andy on the coast of Mexico. That is why so many inmates are released from prison, they would find themselves doing the same of a different crime to get back inside the walls of prison.
This movie was directed by Frank Darabont who he credit the writing to Stephen King. He usually creating things for entertainment purposes only. Like a great novel, this film manages to succeed at greater things then simply entertaining an audience. The director illustrasting principles and inspiring his audience to think. Darabont produce this movie to send out a powerful message of hope and redemption something we all must seek to succeed.
